"WE ARE FAMILY"
In 1979, the Pittsburgh Pirates won the World Series. And during that campaign, the slogan we are family became born. The song "we are family" by Sister Sledge became the pirates theme song. And there you have it, baseball in the 1970s was exactly that "family". At that time, people rooted for their teams whether, a Pirate, Reds, Dodgers, or Yankee fan. We were family,
The teams and the fans and the players felt like one big happy family. We loved our teams and players and treated them like brothers and sisters. Players would mingle with fans and sign autographs and play ball with the kids and didn't ask for any money. That was a player who love baseball, the game, the fan, and the team. They wanted to be part of the family, and since the players loved the fans, the fans loved the players and wanted their raw baseball cards just because they were family. Getting a family member's baseball card was pure joy and excitement. That was baseball, we love the cards because we love the players Those were the days of wine and roses. That is why I have this site dedicated to raw baseball cards and the players who played at that time. Lest we forget.
